Brian Orr Moot Competition

Brian Orr Moot Competition sponsored by Piper Alderman

The Brian Orr moot competition is the flagship internal competition run by the Bond LSA, taking place in the first semester of every year. The competition is split into first year and senior divisions to ensure that all students are able and confident to compete in what is the largest Bond competition, with over 150 students competing annually. Problem complexity differs between the two divisions but is sure to challenge all who compete, encouraging participants to craft logical and creative legal solutions. The Brian Orr moot competition is seen as the stepping stone to representing Bond in domestic and international mooting competitions, with many past competitors representing Bond at prestigious mooting competitions across the globe. Interest in the competition is high and generally sees a standing room audience only in the moot courts for the finals, which this year were guest judged by General Counsel for Piper Alderman Dr Malcolm Quirey and former Justice of the High Court, Ian Callinan.
