The LSA launched the McLaughlin Solicitors Paper Presentation Competition in 2013. The competition allowed students to write about any area of law that they were well versed in and passionate about.

Students composed a short written submission between 1000 and 1500 words – arguing on a point of law reform or advocating for the maintenance of the status quo.

Students then presented their paper to a panel of academic from the Faculty of Law. The winner and runner-up are then given the opportunity to speak before The Hon. Michael Kirby at the LSA’s annual Great Animal Welfare Debate.
